A professional educator with diverse experience and strong track record of fostering child-centered curriculum and collaborative learning, Mr. Garcia has been a teacher for almost twenty years now. A teacher with a passion for technology, he has made his passion directed towards training globally competitive students and technologically savvy teachers through his decades long experience in teacher training. He has handled various levels, from grade school, to high school and tertiary levels, inspiring hands-on lessons that fostered a classroom atmosphere that is stimulating, encouraging, and adaptive to the varied needs of students.
He had also coached teachers in integrating technology in the classroom. He had been an Information and Communications Technology coordinator at Saint Pedro Poveda College for seven years and had also been in charge of the school technology related support system such as updating communication dissemination/messaging system and was assigned as the head of the website team committee of the same school. In this capacity he implemented school-wide systems and procedures to effectively evaluate students achievement and found ways on how to keep constant communication with students and families regarding academic and behaviour performance and progress. He has instituted some programs in school that accurately evaluated data on student performance to effectively adapt changes in the existing curriculum thereby modifying and accommodating differentiated support to the needs and capacity of all students to ensure standards were achieved.
He has collaborated with students, making sure to adapt to their diverse learning styles by exposing them to current trends in technology and the ways they can steer these skills towards the betterment of the living condition of others in their communities. In teaching these technical skills - from office productivity and its integration, to photo and video editing, to web development and programming - he aims to help disseminate the skills that these students can use way beyond the confines of the classroom.
He has collaborated with educators in Asia, having been invited as speaker locally and internationally in educational technology summits and conferences. Some of which were “The Transforming Presence of Education”, held in the Philippines (February 2010), Google Summit held in Bangladesh (February 2015), “Google for Education - Hangout On Air” (May 2015), and EdTech Summit held in South Korea (February 2016) and Manila (November 2017).
